The first full trailer for the Kristen Stewart-starring Princess Diana film Spencer is finally here.
Neon had previously released a short teaser, but in this full trailer we really get to see the real juiciness of Stewart's role, and just how stunning her performance in the film is.
The trailer starts with Diana arriving late to the holiday house, already ruffling feathers of the royal family. "Just three days, that's it," she says to herself, trying to convince herself she can make it through the holiday weekend, where she ultimately will decide to end her marriage to Prince Charles.
The trailer shows tons of the tension between Diana and the other royals, contrasting their strict sense of duty with her individualistic heart.
"There has to be two of you, there's the real one, and the one they take pictures of," Diana is told by Charles. But that's easier said than done for Diana, who yearns to be herself, and no one else.
"Will they kill me, do you think?" Diana eerily asks at the end of the trailer. This is going to be one for the ages.
And god, the fashion! Stewart looks absolutely stunning in Diana's classic wedding dress, and gorgeous ensambles and gowns.
Since the film debuted at the Venice Film Festival and TIFF, Oscar buzz for Stewart has been even louder than it already was. Her performance, and the film, by Jackie director Pablo Larrain, have gotten rave reviews.
Variety said that Stewart doesn't just impersonate Diana, "She transforms; she changes her aspect, her rhythm, her karma," and Us Weekly said that "she is the breathtaking soul of her film, owning every scene and single-handedly elevating it to must-watch status."
Spencer, which also stars Jack Farthing as Prince Charles, Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris. It will be released in theaters November 5.
