Lady Gaga's Italian accent in House of Gucci keeps getting bigger and bigger, and we love it!
In two new clips from the upcoming Oscar-hopeful House of Gucci, lead star Lady Gaga is EATING, and we are FED.
The film, which stars Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, the woman who married Italian fashion icon Maurizio Gucci and then hired a man to kill him after he cheated, is expected to pick up tons of Oscar nominations, including for Gaga as Lead Actress.
In the first clip, we finally get some context for Gaga's iconic "our name, sweetie," line from the second trailer. Patrizia and Maurizio are looking at a pile of Gucci knockoffs, when "who is making this stuff, who is allowing this to happen?" Patrizia demands.
When Maurizio jokes about the quality of the fakes, Patrizia shows her temper, telling him not to act like a cretin. Her accent is even bigger than her hair. This is camp!!!
In the second clip, Gaga's hair and acting are even bigger. In it, she questions what her husband's legacy will be, before telling him he needs to fire some of his family members from the business. "Patricia, they are my family," he replies. "So am I," Patricia counters.
With every clip and scene we see from House of Gucci, we are more and more sure that it's going to be a rollercoaster of huge accents, amazing hair, and performances we won't ever stop thinking about. We can't wait to get on the ride.
House of Gucci is Lady Gaga's big Oscar push after she was nominated for Best Actress for A Star is Born (and winning Best Song for that movie). She's expected to be one of the leading contenders for the award, along with fellow queer actress Kristen Stewart. Stewart is earning rave reviews for her electric performance in Spencer, where she plays Princess Diana spending the holidays with the royal family.
House of Gucci is directed by Blade Runner and Gladiator director Ridley Scott and was written by Robert Bentivegna. It also stars Al Pacino, Jared Leto, and Jeremy Irons.
House of Gucci debuts in theaters on November 24, 2021.
