Kristen Stewart has no time for haters of the new gay superhero in Marvel's upcoming Eternals.
On Variety's The Take, Stewart was talking with host Clayton Davis about the film and gay representation in movies in general. When Davis asked her what she would say to anyone who says "this is not how superheroes should be portrayed," Stewart had few words for naysayers.
"I don't know much about the storyline in this one, but I'm glad there's gay people in it," Stewart responded.
"I would say you've had your time," she continued. "If you're happier and more comfortable looking in the rearview mirror, that is where we'll leave you, brah. But yeah, sure, go watch every other movie that hasn't really touched on what we are, and we will just continue growing without you."

Eternals is Marvel's first movie featuring a gay superhero. In previous MCU films, gay representation has consisted of a nameless man in a support group who says one line about his male ex, a scene cut from Thor: Ragnarok confirming Valkyrie is gay, and basically nothing else.
In Eternals, however, Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry plays the character Phastos, an openly gay hero joined in the film by Haaz Sleiman as Ben, his husband. The two also have a young son, making them the MCU's first LGBTQ+ family.
Stewart is in the press spotlight right now as she stars in the upcoming Princess Diana film Spencer. She's already garnering heavy Oscar buzz for her role in the film, which follows the princess over a holiday weekend with the royal family as she decides to end her marriage.
The other day, Variety shared another clip from her interview with Davis. In that clip, he asked her how she felt about online support to have her play the Joker opposite Robert Pattinson's Batman. "It's really been done so well. I feel like, maybe we don't traipse over, but I love that gusto," she replied. "Let's figure something else out. I'm totally down to play a freaky, scary person."
Spencer is directed by Pablo Larrain and also stars Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, Sean Harris, and Sally Hawkins. It debuts in theaters on November 5.
