12 Gay and Bi Male Superheroes on TV We Love
The world of superheroes is getting more and more diverse every day. Soon, it'll even maybe catch up to real life! The MCU just introduced it's first gay superhero last year, and we're seeing more and more gay heroes on TV.
Even though it's simply fiction, we all know know how inspiring your favorite superhero can be. And there's possible increased potency when you can identify with that figure. At a time where lawmakers across the nation are pushing homophobic and transphobic legislation and rhetoric, it's important to have out gay and bi heroes like these in our TV shows.
Here are 12 gay and bi male superheroes we just can't get enough of.
Black Condor
John Trujillo is also known as the crimefighter Black Condor on the dystopian Earth-X in the CW webseries Freedom Fighters: The Ray. There he teams up with another gay hero, The Ray, to fight against the New Reichsmen, a supervillain-led dictatorship that rules the earth.
Citizen Cold
Leo Snart, played by Wentworth Miller, is the Earth-X version of Caption Cold, a supervillain who joined the Legends of Tomorrow. This version was the husband of Ray Terrill, who also joined the Legends.
John Constantine
The number one supernatural crimefighter in the world is also proudly bisexual. John Constantine, who has appeared in his own show, Constantine, and in Legends of Tomorrow, is a huge fan favorite, known for his snarky flirting and willingness to try anything once.
El Dorado
With the real name Ed Dorado, Jr., El Dorado uses his teleportation powers to help the Outsiders in the cartoon series Young Justice. He eventually gets into a relationship with Bart Allen, aka, Kid Flash.
Kaldur'ahm
One of the original stars of Young Justice, Aqualad is often the leader of the team, being the oldest and wisest hero. In the first season, he has a crush on his childhood friend Tula, but after she dies, he ends up dating a fellow Atlantean man named Wynnde.
Kid Flash
One of DC's speedsters, Kid Flash, aka, Bart Allen, starts dating Ed Dorado in the show Young Justice. Together the two are one of several queer couples on the show.
Loki
After much speculation, Loki's bisexuality was confirmed in his Disney+ show when he said he'd been in love with both "princes" and "princesses." Although his sexuality wasn't explored more than that in the first season, we're hoping he'll get to do some as the show continues.
Twink and Agent Merryweather
Q-Force Agent Steve Merryweather is the best spy in the country, but because he's gay, he was relegated to sitting in West Hollywood without a mission. That is, until he and the Q-Force saved the world. Another member of his team, Twink, is a master of disguise, able to transform into pop stars and princesses at the drop of a hat.
Mr. Terrific
Dr. Curtis Holt is a gay man, scientist, and former Olympic bronze medalist who becomes the hero Mr. Terrific on Arrow. He's heped Team Arrow plenty of times, earning his spot as a valuable hero.
Obsidian
Todd Rice was one of the members of the Justice Society of America, a middle-of-the-century superhero team visited on Legends of Tomorrow. As Obsidian, he can envelop his surroundings in complete darkness and use that darkness to form tangible things like whips and tentacles.
Peacemaker
After starring in The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker made his way to his own HBO Max show where it was revealed that he's bisexual. He seems to have a crush on his fellow agent, Emilia Harcourt, but also has a threesome with a woman and his best friend Adrian (Vigilante) and is later yelled at by his father for sleeping with men.
The Ray
Russell Tovey plays this light-based superhero who's appeared in The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and his own animated show Freedom Fighters: The Ray. When he joined the Freedom Fighters, he met Leo Snart, and the two fell in love.
