These Queer Artists Were Just Nominated For the MTV Video Music Awards
Some of our fave LGBTQ+ artists were nominated at the MTV VMAs this year!
While they don't really play music videos any more, MTV is still home to the MTV Video Music Awards, the number one award show for music videos. This year several queer artists, including Lil Nas X, got nominations. X, along with his "Industry Baby" collaborator Jack Harlow, and rapper Kendrick Lamar led the pack with seven nominations each. Harry Styles and Doja Cat came in next with six nominations apiece.
The VMAs will air on MTV Sunday, Aug 28 at 8pm ET/PT on MTV, the CW, BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand, and VH1. Here's a list of some of our favorite LGBTQ+ artists who were nominated this year!

Lil Nas X
Lil Nas X, along with Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar, lead all nominees with seven nominations each. His video with Jack Harlow for "Industry Baby" is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, and Best Choreography. Lil Nas X himself is also up for Artist of the Year. He has previously won five moonmen, two for "Old Town Road" and three for "Montero," including Video of the Year.
Lizzo
Lizzo is nominated for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for "About Damn Time," Best Pop, and Video for Good. Lizzo previously earned seven other nominations, but no VMA wins.
Dove Cameron
America's favorite "Boyfriend," Dove Cameron rode her latest sapphic bop hit single to a Best New Artist nomination at this year's VMA's.
Dua Lipa and Elton John
Dua Lipa and Elton John's collab on "Cold Heart" is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.
Panic! At the Disco
Pansexual singer Brendon Urie and his band Panic! At the Disco were nominated for Best Alternative award for the song "Viva Las Vengeance."
Remi Wolf
Alt-pop singer Remi Wolf is nominated for the Push Performance of the Year Award, something that Lesbian Jesus Hayley Kiyoko has won in the past.
