Lil Nas X is, once again, riding high on his horse!
As we enter December, people are starting to look back at the media they were obsessed with this year, and when it comes to what the world consumes, there's a whole lot of Montero. Thanks to Spotify, we now know that his sexy, chart-topping banger "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" is the second most-streamed song globally in 2021.
Per usual, everyone is checking out their Spotify Wrapped to find their most listened to tracks, and this year, a lot of people are going to see "Montero" at the very top. According to Spotify, it was the second most-streamed song in the world in 2021, after only "drivers license" by Olivia Rodrigo.
Other songs in the top five include "Stay" by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber, "good 4 u" by Olivia Rodrigo, and "Levitating" by Dua Lipa and DaBaby. In the US, the top five most-streamed songs were "drivers license," "good 4 u," "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA, "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals, and "Levitating."
X wasn't just a one-hit wonder, though. His debut album MONTERO was also the sixth most streamed album globally. Miss Rodrigo was once again at the top of the list with her debut album SOUR. She's followed by Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and Doja Cat, who rounds out the top five.
It was a great year for Lil Nas X, who was also nominated for five Grammys, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year. He's also up for Best Music Video and Best Melodic Rap Performance. The Record, Song, and Music Video awards are all for the song "Montero." The Best Melodic Rap nomination is for "Industry Baby" featuring Jack Harlow. We'll find out how many awards he takes home when the Grammy winners are announced on January 31.
