Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Sorry.
Billy Porter and Luke Evans have signed on to star in the custody-battle drama Our Son from director Bill Oliver.
Our Son follows a divorcing couple (presumably Porter and Evans) who are fighting for the custody of their 8-year-old son. (We'd happily have either of these men as our Daddy, to be honest.)
Both Porter and Evans are terrific actors, and both are gay men, so if they end up playing a divorcing couple of fathers opposite each other, this could be one of the better gay movies we've seen.
Last year, Evans played a gay character named Lars in the series Nine Perfect Strangers. It was the first time he had played an out gay character in television or film. It looks like he might be returning to that waterhole. And we'd definitely love to see it!
Now that Pose is over, Porter turned his attention to directing his first feature film, the trans teen rom-com Anything's Possible. The film stars Eva Reign as a Black trans girl navigating a new relationship during her senior year of high school. The first trailer for the movie was released today.
Evans' upcoming projects include playing the Coachman in the upcoming live-action Pinocchio (starring Tom Hanks and Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and starring in the action-thriller series Echo 3 for Apple.
Echo 3 focuses on "a brilliant young scientist who is the emotional center of a small American family" who goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border. Her brother and husband, who both have "complicated pasts" and military experience, "struggle to find her in a layered, personal drama, set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war." Evans is playing the scientist's brother, Bambi.
