These New 'Thor: Love & Thunder' Images Are Making Us Gayer Than Ever
Will 'Thor: Love and Thunder' Finally Give us the Queer Women We Want in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Taika Waititi's upcoming Marvel Studios movie Thor: Love and Thunder has to be one of the most buzzed-about superhero films coming out this year. Not only is it a terrific-looking follow up to one of the most fun, unique, and aesthetically pleasing superhero movies ever, Thor: Ragnarok, but it's going to introduce a queer storyline for one of our favorite characters: Valkyrie. Now that we've got our first looks at the upcoming movie, we're even more excited!!
Of course, we're also keeping our hopes in check. The last MCU movie with a queer character was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which introduced lesbian superhero America Chavez. Unfortunately, the movie aged her down and made no mention of or hint at her sexuality. We're begging for some quality queer women in the MCU. Will Thor: Love and Thunder finally deliver?

The poster for Love and Thunder looks like a great hair metal album cover, which makes us beyond excited for what it's going to be like. We're especially excited because back in 2019, when the movie was first announced, Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, said that after she became the ruler of Asgard in Avengers: Endgame, Valkyrie needed a wife to rule by her side. "As king, [Valkyrie] needs to find her queen," she said. "So that'll be her first order of business, she has some ideas."
We all knew we'd be gay as hell for Valkyrie, but when we saw this first image of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster making her MCU return as a new Thor, we reached all new levels of sapphic suffering. Look at those arms!!! Look at that armor!!! Look at that hammer!!! Portman truly looks like a warrior queen, which is exactly what Valkyrie is looking for. Perhaps these two will end up together in the film?? Can we dream that big?
The gay panic increased even more when this second picture was released, showing Valkyrie and Jane Foster sitting in thrones next to each other. Umm!?!? What is going on??? Is this the throne room? Are they together? Do we really get this many hot women in one movie? Look at their arms!!!! Is that Bast in front of them?? Will the three of them get together in some kind of godly threesome??
We don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. There's a good chance Valkyrie will end up with someone else, and Jane Foster won't be bisexual or gay at all. Other characters like Nebula, Mantis, and Lady Sif are also appearing in the movie, so her queen could be one of them, or it could be an all new character.
We're going to have to wait to see until July 8 when Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters.
