Oscar Winner Ariana DeBose Remains Booked & Busy, Hosting 2022 Tonys

Ariana DeBose continues her reign!

The Academy Award winner and Tony nominee has been named the official host of the 75th annual Tony Awards, which will take place at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 12!

DeBose is having a banner year so far. After starring in West Side Story in the iconic role of Anita last year, she went on to win the Academy Award for that role, just like the original Anita, Rita Moreno. In doing so, she became the first out queer woman of color to win an acting Oscar. Along the way she also picked up a Golden Globe and a SAG award for the role.

Since then, she's hosted SNL, been on the cover of Out, and walked the Met Gala red carpet. Her upcoming projects include the Sony Spider-Man film Kraven the Hunter, and the space thriller ISS. It seems nothing can bring her down!

While she's now one of the biggest stars in the world, just seven years ago, she was appearing in the original cast of Hamilton in the show's ensemble. From there, she went on to star as Disco Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, which earned her a 2018 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

The Tony Award nominations will be announced on Monday, May 9 following an extended eligibility window. You can watch DeBose host the Tonys on Sunday, June 12 at 8pm ET on CBS and Paramount+.
