Jane Fonda Arrested for Third Time While Protesting Climate Change

Legendary actress and activist Jane Fonda is now three for three when it comes to being arrested for protesting in the last three weeks. The badass Hollywood legend knows that actions speak louder than words. This week, she was joined by her friend, The Good Place star Ted Danson.

Fonda has been regularly joining with other protesters at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. for the past few weeks to protest climate change and the Trump administration's refusal to do anything about it. These "Fire Drill Fridays," as protesters are calling them, always end in an act of civil disobedience, which is what is getting Fonda, and others, arrested.

On the most recent Friday, the 81-year-old two-time Oscar winner carried a sign and shouted "Get in motion, save the ocean," while wearing a stunning full-length red coat -- the hue was possibly meant to symbolize the blood on the hands of Republicans if they keep refusing to address climate change.

The Grace and Frankie star gave short a speech, saying, "The fossil fuel industry wants us to believe it's our fault. Bullshit!" The 71-year-old Danson added, "when I turned 70 I thought 'ok, time to rest on my laurels,' and then I met Jane Fonda."

The activists then blocked First Street between the Capitol and the Library of Congress and Supreme Court where they were arrested, taken to a separate location, processed, and released. They'll be charged with misdemeanors, ranging from crowding, obstructing, or incommoding. Fonda already has two incommoding charges, from previous weeks.

As she was being patted down with her hands bound together, she turned to Danson and shouted "Ted, are ya having fun yet?"

Fonda isn't content stopping at three arrests in three weeks, and plans on getting back to protesting next week. "I will be on the Capitol every Friday, rain or shine," she wrote on her website, adding that she's "inspired and emboldened by the incredible movement our youth have created."
